Merus, LLC is a diversified agribusiness enterprise based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The founding partners of Merus have over 50 years of experience in the agricultural commodities and logistics business. We specialize in merchandising physical commodities both domestically and internationally.
A compound feed manufacturer in Taiwan usually buys their soybean meal from local in-country processors. These soybean processors have dramatically raised prices due to delays in raw material arrivals of soybeans.
The feed manufacturer has knowledge of Merus’ speed and agility, and asks for a shipment of US soybean meal that will arrive before their current inventories are depleted.
Merus was able to:
1) Rearrange current shipments destined for other customers in other countries
2) Redirect those shipments to Taiwan.
3) Replenish pipelines to the other countries without disruption or delay.
A medium-sized importer and wholesaler of animal feed ingredients has been dissatisfied with their suppliers. The wholesaler is slow to receive documents, communication, and shipment notifications. The lack of attention given to these matters causes strain with importation deadlines related to banking and customs. The wholesaler contacts Merus and negotiates a fair price for a trial shipment.
The experience is extremely pleasant with fast and accurate documentation and communication. Soon, the importer moves a majority of their purchasing to Merus. The customer is able to focus more time on other initiatives thereby expanding their overall business.
A small certified organic grain elevator based in the United States desires to expand its geographic sales reach. All of their grain and feed products have been historically sold into a nearby region and shipped by truck. The grain elevator begins working with Merus to find more distant markets and discovers that other shipment methods by rail and ocean container will regularly net higher overall values for their products.
A long-term relationship is developed between this organic operation and Merus. Both are able to work in collaboration to reach new and expanding markets.
A feedmill in Southeast Asia has been purchasing their requirements and importing from countries within their region. Never had they imported directly from the United States. They always assumed that the process was too complex and didn’t have a contact that could assist. The feedmill president contacted Merus via their website and realized that the process was simple and fast when an accurate and deliberate action plan was followed.
Merus was able to refer the feedmill president to a regional agent that assisted with import registration and banking. The feedmill began to import their needs from the United States and noticed a significant benefit in product consistency and overall experience. Now, the feedmill is importing most of their requirements from Merus.
Our product mix is extensive and ranges from conventional, organic, and non-GMO whole grain and feed to live cattle and hogs. Merus, LLC’s industry knowledge and expertise provides customers, vendors, and collaborators, with accurate, cost-conscious solutions for their diversified and ever-changing needs. We strive to create a positively memorable experience, before, during, and after each business transaction.
